Whitney Skarbek will take on the role of associate principal at both Captain Charles Wilkes Elementary and Captain Johnston Blakely Elementary, the Bainbridge Island School District has announced.

Skarbek is currently a first-grade teacher at Blakely, and district officials said she “brings a variety of experience as a teacher and instructional coach that will allow her to be an exceptional leader” and will hit the ground running.

She will begin in her new position on July 1.
