BI Pharmacy to administer more COVID vaccine this week

This week, the Bainbridge Island Community Pharmacy is receiving first doses of the Pfizer vaccine and second doses of the Moderna vaccine and is open to people who qualify under Phase 1A and Phase 1B, Tier 1.

The Pfizer vaccines will be made available at clinics Saturday and Sunday. The site has been moved from Woodward Middle School to Commodore Options School. Last weekend, the WMS clinic administered 1,208 doses. The Moderna vaccines will be used to support second-dose clinics at the Senior Center. The city, in partnership with the BI Fire Department and Bainbridge Prepares, is coordinating with BI Community Pharmacy on COVID-19 vaccine distribution. As of March 6, the partnership has supported the administration of 6,000 doses.

According to the Kitsap Public Health District, 77.8 percent of BI residents ages 65 and older have received at least one dose of the vaccine, while 37.7 percent of all BI residents ages 16 and older have received at least one dose.
