BI Parks may buy Bainbridge Athletic Club

The Bainbridge Island Metropolitan Park & Recreation District said in a news release Wednesday that it plans to discuss the potential purchase of the Bainbridge Athletic Club.

The discussion will take place at the June 17 park board meeting at 6 p.m. on Zoom.

“The BAC has been a pillar of the island’s vibrant fitness community for decades,” the news release says. “This proposed transaction represents an opportunity to obtain a long-desired publicly owned indoor recreational facility, which would address one of the community’s top priorities identified during the Sakai Park public planning process.”

The news release continues saying if the board decides to move forward at the meeting, the Park District will then conduct “due diligence” (such as inspections and title reports) and gather community input. If the proposed transaction meets the park district’s goals, the deal could close in late summer.

The proposal is for the land, buildings and business assets.
