BI not a bad place to be on New Year’s Eve

Visit Bainbridge Island is touting BI as a place to celebrate New Year’s Eve.

Go to Kids Discovery Museum where children can boogie with hats, noise makers and firework art activities at the annual Noon Year’s Eve Party from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dec. 31.

For family fun venture to the winter playground at Pleasant Beach Village. New Year’s Eve is the last day to take a turn around the skating rink, which also serves up delectable fare from Joe’s Restaurant, complete with seasonal hot beverages for kids and adults. Hop on a complimentary shuttle, which operates from 2-10 p.m., Wednesdays through Sundays from the ferry terminal.

If you need some fresh air enjoy 44 miles of trails and more than 1,600 acres of parkland on BI, home to Bloedel Reserve, one of the nation’s best botanical gardens that is dressed up for its Winter of Wonder through Jan. 8. The all-ages outdoor experience illuminates trails and gardens and showcases imaginative woodland creatures.

If rejuvenation is on your New Year’s resolution list, Dayaalu Center is hosting an in-studio and livestream event. The session Mindful New Year’s Eve with David Hager & Friends will include silent and guided meditations, gentle movement, reflective writing, music, poetry and prose readings, as well as thoughtful dialogue. The evening is free, but donations are encouraged. Find out more and register at the Dayaalu Center website.
