Helpers are needed for the annual Bainbridge Island beach cleanup day on Sunday, Sept. 9.

The community effort is part of Ocean Conservancy’s International Coastal Cleanup Day and will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday.

The cleanup event is now in its third year on Bainbridge, and volunteers at last year’s event pulled roughly 8 tons of trash from the island’s shoreline.
