Bainbridge teen, two other islanders hurt in Highway 305 collision

Three Bainbridge Island residents were injured in a three-vehicle crash on Highway 305 at Lemolo Shore Drive Wednesday afternoon.

According to the Washington State Patrol, the collision happened just after 3 p.m. when a 16-year-old Bainbridge girl in a 1992 Honda Civic was stopped on Lemolo Shore Drive and tried to cross the highway.

The State Patrol said her car was hit on its driver’s side door by a 23-year-old Kingston woman in a 1999 Lincoln Town Car that was headed north on Highway 305.

The Bainbridge teen’s car was forced into the southbound lane of Highway 305, where it was hit by a 57-year-old Bainbridge man in a vehicle going south.

The Bainbridge girl was injured in the accident and taken to Harrison Hospital, according to the State Patrol.

A passenger in her Honda, a 15-year-old Port Orchard girl, was also hurt and taken to Harrison Hospital.

The State Patrol said the two girls both sustained “cuts and contusions.”

The Bainbridge man who struck the Honda, and a 78-year-old Bainbridge woman who was a passenger in his car, were also both injured and were checked by paramedics at the scene.

The Kingston driver in the Town Car was not injured.

The State Patrol said the crash was caused by the Bainbridge teenager not yielding to traffic on Highway 305. She was cited for failing to yield the right of way.

The crash partially blocked the highway and stalled traffic during the busy afternoon commute Wednesday.
