Bainbridge Island Senior Center plans open house

The newly independent Bainbridge Island Senior Center will host an open house from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, May 1.

“This is a great time for people to get a sense of the breadth and depth of senior center programs,” said Reed Price, the center’s new executive director.

The center hosts daily exercise classes, language conversation groups, games from Bingo to bridge, technology tutoring by school students, and engaging lectures and presentations, and some of the programs will be on display during next week’s event.

Members of the board of the Bainbridge Island Senior Community Center will be available at the center, along with Price, to answer questions and welcome members and visitors. The Bainbridge Island Chamber of Commerce will stage a ribbon-cutting at noon.

Located in the city-owned Waterfront Park Community Center, the Bainbridge Island Senior Community Center recently assumed management of the facility after the nonprofit’s board decided to end its longtime partnership with the Bainbridge Island Metro Parks & Recreation District.
