Bainbridge goes ‘Gnome for the Holidays’

There’s no place like gnome.

Downtown businesses on Bainbridge Island have launched a “Gnome for the Holidays” program.

The special promotional effort, organizers said, will turn downtown Bainbridge into a themed holiday destination designed to be fun for all.

Five different hand-painted gnome-themed boards have been set up around Winslow, and the boards — painted by local artists — have holes for folks to pop their heads through for a festive photo opp.

The themes include “Brian Gnometano,” painted by Alex Sanso and located in the Winslow Mall; “Gnome in lights,” painted by Emily Tupper; “Gnomeo and Juliette,” painted by Kayla Whitbeck and located in front of Zbones at The Green; “Gnome Schooled,” painted by Serenity Usman and located in front of Salt House Mercantile; and “Gnome sweet Home.” painted by Martha & friends from the Winslow Art Center and located in front of Harbor Square Wineshop.

Downtown shops are also offering gnome-y lattes, gnome-y baked treats, holiday arts and crafts and more. Storefronts have been decorated in holiday fashion with gnomes galore.

A Facebook page that includes details on classes, events, and exclusive sales and promos has been also set up. Visit it at www.Facebook.com/GnomeForTheHolidays98110.
