Bainbridge blotter | When buses collide

Selected reports from the Bainbridge Island Police Department blotter.

FRIDAY, OCT. 18

8:30 a.m. Two buses slightly collided while passing by each other on Fletcher Bay Drive. Only the driver’s side mirror of both were damaged.

One was a Kitsap Transit vehicle, the other a school bus.

Neither driver nor any of the three passengers were injured.

Kitsap Transit and the Bainbridge Island School District sent officials to conduct their own investigations, though police found no proof of negligence.

“Fletcher Bay is a narrow roadway for two buses to pass each other, and due to traffic, neither bus could have allowed more room in the lane,” they reported.

SATURDAY, OCT. 19

8:19 p.m. A two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Highway 305 and Madison Avenue resulted in no injuries.

A 41-year-old Poulsbo man, driving a 2010 Ford Focus, was unable to stop in time at the intersection and rear ended a 2006 Toyota Highlander, driven by a Quilcene man.

He said he was not paying attention. He was cited for inattentive driving and having no proof of insurance.
