Bainbridge blotter | Time to go

Selected reports from the Bainbridge Island Police Department blotter.

MONDAY, OCT. 21

5:40 p.m. A 39-year-old transit locked himself in the bathroom of an island hardware store and refused to leave.

Police responded, finding the man obviously intoxicated.

A store employee provided a key to the bathroom. An officer knocked and identified himself, but the man still refused to leave, so he unlocked the door and escorted him outside.

The man was cooperative, police said, when informed he was trespassed from the store and then gave him a ride to a specific address where he said he was staying on the island.

7:47 p.m. A 67-year-old Bainbridge Island woman reported her mail had been stolen.

She told police a package the post office confirmed had been delivered had apparently been taken from her home on Oct. 8. A few days later the box, with the wrong address written on it, was left at her home, messily taped closed. Inside, she found various pieces of open mail from several addresses, including her own. She brought it to the post office, where she was told to file a police report.

The woman said she’d previously received a random pile of mail in her mailbox as well, but said that was some time ago.

There are no suspects and it was not immediately apparent if anything had been taken from inside the envelopes.

A report was filed.
