Bainbridge blotter | Thief comes to the table

Selected reports from the Bainbridge Island Police Department blotter.

FRIDAY, MAY 3

1:44 p.m. The owner of a downtown Winslow restaurant came to the police station to report someone had stolen four of his six outdoor dining tables.

No chairs had been taken, only the tables.

The man said they were metal, about 2½-feet square, and have a “swirl”-type pattern buffed into the tabletop surface. He made no estimate as to their value.

There are no suspects.

A report was filed.

9:05 p.m. An 85-year-old Bainbridge man struck a deer with his car while traveling south on Highway 305, near the area of Sportsman Club Road and Madison Avenue.

The front corner and fender of the driver’s side, as well as the door, was damaged.

The man said he was traveling about five to 10 mph under the posted speed limit and did not see the deer until it was too late.
