Bainbridge blotter | The keys to a family dispute

Selected reports from the Bainbridge Island Police Department blotter.

TUESDAY, JAN. 9

6:13 p.m. Police responded to the domestic dispute between a mother and daughter in the Rolling Bay area.

The daughter said she had been staying with her mother temporarily while she was home from college, but an argument had erupted when her mother kicked her friends out of the house. They had just been hanging out, she said, insisting that her mother was taking out her anger over a recent breakup of her own on her and her friends.

Now, the young woman said, her mother was insisting she go stay with her dad, which she could not do as she’d just had a fight with him earlier that morning and he would be upset to learn she’d been fighting with her mother.

The mother said that her daughter had stolen a set of her car keys and given them to one of her friends.

The daughter admitted she had done that “to spite” her mother.

Police made arrangements for the keys to be returned and the mother ultimately let her daughter stay, as she was returning to school in three days.

No one was assaulted and nothing was broken.
