Bainbridge blotter | Teen hit by hit-and-run driver while walking near school

TUESDAY, MARCH 14

5:51 p.m. A 59-year-old Bainbridge man reported his 2013 Chevy Volt was struck by a hit-and-run driver after it was left in a parking lot on Olympic Drive. There was damage to the driver’s side rear passenger door area. No note was left behind.

A resident in the 8800 block of Lovgreen Road said a Stihl MS360 chainsaw with a 24-inch bar was stolen from a shed outside his home.

The chainsaw was valued at $500.

SATURDAY, MARCH 11

3 p.m. A 55-year-old Bainbridge woman in a 2014 Audi was stopped on Koura Road at Highway 305 and was hit by a 39-year-old Kingston man in a 1996 Mazda Protege when she tried to turn left onto the highway.

The woman said she did not see the other driver approaching Koura. Witnesses said they saw the woman pull out in front of the man, who was taken by ambulance to Harrison Hospital for a medical evaluation.

THURSDAY, MARCH 9

6:30 p.m. A 15-year-old boy was walking along a sidewalk on Madison Avenue next to Ordway Elementary when he crossed the exit driveway of the school and was hit by a car while he was in the marked crosswalk.

The teen said he made eye contact with the driver of the approaching vehicle, but the woman who was driving did not stop and struck him.

The woman continued south on Madison Avenue. The driver was described as having short, dark hair and was between 30 and 40 years old.
