Bainbridge blotter | Rear-ender on 305

Selected reports from the Bainbridge Island Police Department blotter.

SUNDAY, SEPT. 30

4:34 p.m. A 36-year-old Port Ludlow woman, driving a 2006 Chrysler 300, struck the rear of a 2006 Dodge pickup driven by a 70-year-old Bainbridge Island man, which had stopped of red light while going north on Highway 305, near Madison Avenue.

The woman said she was reaching for a water bottle, and when she looked up the car in front of her had stopped and she was unable to brake in time to avoid the collision.

Police detected the smell of alcohol coming from the woman, who admitted she’d recently had a glass of wine. She agreed to a field sobriety test and performed well.

Ultimately, the woman was cited for inattentive driving.

There were no injuries.
