Bainbridge blotter | Possibly intoxicated

Selected reports from the Bainbridge Island Police Department blotter.

FRIDAY, FEB. 7

7:53 p.m. A possibly intoxicated driver struck and toppled a stop sign and drove into a ditch near the intersection of NE Windsong Loop and Southwind Court.

Police were called by a witness to the scene and found tire tracks that traveled off the road, through the stop sign, which was snapped off at the base of the pole, and into the ditch. The vehicle was then backed out onto the road.

No debris was left behind by the vehicle, and the witness did not know the make, model or license plate of the car, saying only that it was a small silver SUV driven by a middle-aged woman with blond hair.

The witness said she appeared disoriented and smelled like alcohol.

A patrol of the area turned up no likely suspects.

A report was filed.
