Bainbridge blotter | Off the road, off to jail

Selected reports from the Bainbridge Island Police Department blotter.

THURSDAY, JULY 18

11:17 a.m. A 23-year-old Seattle man was ultimately arrested for driving under the influence after crashing a 2013 Fiat 500 while driving south on Fletcher Bay Road from Island Center.

The man had been traveling at a high rate of speed, police said, when he crossed over the northbound lane onto the shoulder and left the road, striking bushes and a tree stump. The car turned over and came to a stop on the driver’s side.

The man got himself out before emergency responders arrived. He was transported to a hospital in Bremerton for a medical evaluation and, while there, was arrested for DUI and taken to Kitsap County Jail.
