Bainbridge blotter | Missing guns

Selected reports from the Bainbridge Island Police Department blotter.

FRIDAY, JAN. 3

8:07 a.m. The owner of a Bainbridge garden shop called police to report a generator had been stolen sometime in the last year.

It had been purchased between 2010 and 2011, she said, and the value was about $1,000.

The owner said she had not actually checked on the generator since the beginning of last year and had only discovered the theft as she was preparing her end-of-year reports.

The shop has no security cameras and there are no witnesses.

A report was filed.

4:16 p.m. A small safe was turned into the police station after having washed up on a private beach near Crystal Springs Drive.

It was unlocked, police said, and they found inside documents belonging to the owner, whom they contacted. When the man arrived at the station, he explained he’d reported the burglary of his storage unit in Bremerton, which had included this safe and two others, one of which contained firearms.

He was in the process of locating the serial numbers for the stolen guns.

A report was filed.
