Bainbridge blotter | Crash and dash

Selected reports from the Bainbridge Island Police Department blotter.

TUESDAY, MARCH 3

1:27 p.m. A Kitsap Transit driver reported a hit-and-run accident after a woman backed into his 2017 Ford passenger van and drove away while he was helping a disabled passenger get off his bus.

The driver told police he had parked his vehicle on the side of Ravine Lane, when the woman, who was leaving a parking stall on the other side of the road, hit the bus near the rear side panel on the driver’s side.

The bus driver walked around the Ford and the woman, who was in a sedan described as a newish vehicle that was silver or gray, asked him if he was OK.

He replied that he was, and asked the woman to wait until he finished helping his passenger.

When he came back to talk to the woman, described as in her late 50s with shoulder-length brown hair, he saw her driving away.

The woman’s vehicle had a broken taillight from the crash. The bus sustained reportable damage.
