Bainbridge blotter | Car-struck pedestrian ‘came out of nowhere’

Selected reports from the Bainbridge Island Police Department blotter.

FRIDAY, JUNE 23

12:06 p.m. A 72-year-old Bainbridge woman was struck by a car while walking in a parking lot on High School Road. The car, a 2011 Kia Sorento, was driven by a 50-year-old Bainbridge woman who was turning into the parking lot at the time, and the pedestrian was struck by the vehicle’s right front bumper. She fell down and sprained her right ankle.

The driver claims the woman “came out of nowhere” and was not in a marked crosswalk.

Fire department personnel arrived to wrap the woman’s ankle. The driver and pedestrian exchanged information.
