The fruition of three major fundraising events came together in the form of a giant check — and a whole lot of smiles — last week as representatives from the Northwest chapter of Make Some Noise: Cure Kids Cancer delivered a research grant in the amount of $105,000 to Seattle Children’s Research Institute Wednesday, July 16.

The money is the culmination of the June art auction fundraiser “The Cure Is Now,” at the Bainbridge Island Museum of Art, an additional $5,000 donation from the 2013-2014 One Call for All campaign and a final matching donation contributed by Make Some Noise national headquarter offices.

The grant will go to fund clinical T cell immunotherapy trials for three relapsed Childhood Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia patients at Seattle Children’s Hospital.

The cost of treatment for each patient is approximately $35,000.

Make Some Noise: Cure Kids Cancer Northwest is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization based on Bainbridge Island. All proceeds from fundraising activities and donations go to childhood cancer research efforts.

The organization thanked thank all of those who so generously contributed to the critical need to provide greater funding to childhood cancer research, and to those who gave selflessly of their time and talents.
