1,972 new COVID cases confirmed in Kitsap over holiday weekend

Over the last week, Kitsap’s case rate per 100,000 residents has skyrocketed to 1,340.6

On Tuesday, the Kitsap Public Health District confirmed 1,972 new COVID cases over the holiday weekend, bringing the countywide total to 28,245 since the pandemic began in March of 2020.

Of the new cases, North Kitsap had 232, and Bainbridge Island 83; 603 were in South Kitsap, 564 in Bremerton; and 232 in Central Kitsap.

Over the last week, the county’s case rate per 100,000 residents has skyrocketed to 1,340.6. To date, the number of Kitsap County residents who have initiated vaccination is 74.1%.

Of the 28,245 cases, 1,290 have been reported on Bainbridge Island, 7,501 in Bremerton, 6,434 in Central Kitsap, 4,296 in North Kitsap and 8,687 in South Kitsap. 37 cases have come from “unknown” areas of the county.

There have been 265 COVID-related deaths since the pandemic began. Of the deaths, 103 were ages 80 and older, 64 ages 70-79, 51 ages 60-69, 32 ages 50-59, 11 ages 40-49 and four ages 30-39.
