“$500 fine, no jail time for deputy accused of assault”

Farvour alleged to have fondled female motorists during routine traffic stops

“Former Kitsap County Sheriff deputy Gary Farvour has entered an Alford plea in a Pierce County court–conceding there is enough evidence to convict him, but without admitting guilt–to two counts of misdemeanor assault with sexual intentions.Farvour, recently fired by the Sheriff Department, in connection with the same two unwarranted stops he made on female motorists in 1998 and 1999, was ordered to pay $500 in court costs following his plea June 22.In addition, Farvour was told to have no contact with his victims.Farvour cannot apply for a law-enforcement position for the two years of his probation. He also cannot appeal his job termination by his former employers.Sheriff Steve Boyer said he was glad it is all over.Essentially, I’m pleased this has been resolved, he said. It’s imperative that we maintain the highest standards. If you violate the oath of officer here, you will pay for it.Boyer sexual predators prey on those least able to defend themselves.Boyer worried that Farvour’s legal difficulties would tarnish other officers in the Sheriff Department.I can say emphatically that this should not reflect on all the fine officers we have here, he said. I look at this as an anomaly.Farvour was accused of making sexual advances on the women victims. He allegedly took one of them to her home and followed her inside, then contacted her later at her workplace. He handcuffed and fondled the other victim, authorities said.”
