1,866 new COVID cases confirmed in Kitsap over the weekend; 2 more deaths

Over the last week, Kitsap’s case rate per 100,000 residents is 1,159.1

On Monday, the Kitsap Public Health District confirmed two more COVID-related deaths, bringing the countywide total to 269 since the pandemic began in March of 2020.

Details on the four most recent deaths have not yet been provided. Of the previous 265 deaths, 102 were ages 80 and older, 64 ages 70-79, 53 ages 60-69, 31 ages 50-59, 11 ages 40-49 and four ages 30-39.

Additionally, 1,866 new COVID cases were confirmed over the weekend, bringing the countywide total to 31,630 since the pandemic began.

Of the new cases, North Kitsap had 264, and Bainbridge Island 48; 613 were in South Kitsap, 500 in Bremerton; and 433 in Central Kitsap. Eight of the cases came from an “unknown” area of the county.

Over the last week, the county’s case rate per 100,000 residents has skyrocketed to 1,159.1. To date, the number of Kitsap County residents who have initiated vaccination is 74.8%.

Of the 31,630 cases, 1,387 have been reported on Bainbridge Island, 8,402 in Bremerton, 7,229 in Central Kitsap, 4,769 in North Kitsap and 9,770 in South Kitsap. 73 cases have come from “unknown” areas of the county.
