191 new COVID cases confirmed in Kitsap over holiday weekend

Over the last week, Kitsap’s case rate per 100,000 residents has dropped dramatically to 185.9

On Monday, the Kitsap Public Health District confirmed 191 new COVID cases over the holiday weekend, bringing the countywide total to 38,027 since the pandemic began in March of 2020.

Of the new cases, North Kitsap had 51, and Bainbridge Island eight; 63 were in South Kitsap, 46 in Bremerton; and 22 in Central Kitsap. One case came from an “unknown” area of the county.

Over the last week, the county’s case rate per 100,000 residents has dropped dramatically to 185.9. To date, the number of Kitsap County residents who have initiated vaccination is 76.6%.

Of the 38,027 cases, 1,747 have been reported on Bainbridge Island, 10,166 in Bremerton, 8,789 in Central Kitsap, 5,722 in North Kitsap and 11,442 in South Kitsap. 161 cases have come from “unknown” areas of the county.

There have been 308 COVID-related deaths since the pandemic began. Of the deaths, 123 were ages 80 and older, 74 ages 70-79, 59 ages 60-69, 34 ages 50-59, 14 ages 40-49 and four ages 30-39.
