Dr. Helena Soomer-Lincoln, founder of Fairy Tale Dental on Bainbridge Island, is expanding her mission to combat toothlessness by establishing a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing dental solutions for those unable to afford care. With TruBridge™, she aims to make fixed zirconia full-arch restorations accessible to underserved populations.
TruBridge™ is a patented dental restoration that offers a permanent alternative to traditional dentures. Unlike removable prosthetics, TruBridge™ is a fixed solution that provides patients with the sensation of strong, healthy teeth and a confident smile.
Soomer-Lincoln draws inspiration from her early experiences in Estonia. She emphasizes the importance of choice and accessibility in dental care, saying, “It’s incredibly important — I truly believe access to dental care is a human right. We should never judge someone for not having teeth. Instead, we should restore their teeth and empower them to pay it forward and help others.”
She is personally financing the initiative through her various business ventures, including a chicken breeding enterprise that produces rainbow-colored eggs and the Fairy Tale Bed and Breakfast. Recently, two patients even traveled from the East Coast to receive dental treatment and stayed at her B&B during their procedures.
“People often ask if they can donate — to help make a TruBridge™ for someone who can’t afford it,” she said. “It takes time and effort to create each one, but the impact it can have on someone’s life makes it more than worth it.”
Beyond providing dental solutions, Soomer-Lincoln envisions a ripple effect of goodwill. She believes that restoring a person’s smile can unlock their potential and inspire them to uplift others. “I want to spark a cycle of giving,” she explained. “When people feel confident and cared for, they’re more likely to pay it forward.”
To broaden the nonprofit’s reach, Soomer-Lincoln is working with other organizations to showcase the success of TruBridge™ and the real-world impact of restored smiles. She welcomes others to get involved.
“TruBridge™ gives patients a strong, lasting option — one that offers both dignity and quality,” she said. “This is what I’m meant to do. It’s my mission, and I’m deeply passionate about it.”
Initially holding one patent, Soomer-Lincoln has expanded her portfolio to five, with applications pending in Canada and Europe. This growth underscores her commitment to advancing dental technology and making it accessible worldwide.
