Young thespians head ‘Into the Woods’

Bainbridge Performing Arts’ Theatre School’s inaugural Teen Lab production, “Into the Woods Jr.” heads to the stage Thursday, Aug. 9 through Saturday, Aug. 11.

Be careful what you wish for, as Stephen Sondheim’s and James Lapine’s cockeyed fairytale comes to life in this adaptation of their groundbreaking, Tony Award-winning musical.

BPA Theatre School’s bewitching cast includes Libby Clements, Sophie Eldridge, Trey Field-Bennett, Meryl Hubbard, Cordelia Janow, Lucas Massa, Hailey McCulloch, Renee Messinger, Olivia Opalski, McKenna Sanford, Nobelle Sinclair, Delaney Taylor, Lexie Taylor, Milly Thompson and Carter Wolff.

Directed and choreographed by Adam Somers, with musical direction by Lisa Mandelkorn and costume design by Dawn Janow, this lyrically-rich retelling of classic Brothers Grimm fables features all the beloved characters — Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Jack (and his beanstalk) and, of course, the Witch.

“Into the Woods Jr.” appears at BPA from Thursday, Aug. 9 through Saturday, Aug. 11, with evening performances at 7 p.m. Thursday through Saturday (plus a 3 p.m. Saturday matinee).
