Is that crazy enough for ya?

While the film adaptation of “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest” swept the 1975 Academy Awards – and forever stamped Louise Fletcher’s scary visage into the film-going public’s consciousness – Ken Kesey’s 1962 novel was originally brought to life as a stage play just a year after its publication.

Bainbridge Performing Arts will reprise the drama in five performances next week; the cast includes Kim Failla as Nurse Ratched, Chris Soldevilla as Randle P. McMurphy, Shaun Pearson as Billy Bibbit and Justin Lynn as Chief Bromden. Steven Fogell directs. Shows run June 10-14, at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday-Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday. Help host the library kids’ fair

The Bainbridge Public Library seeks local educators and authors to help host its annual Children’s Library Fair on July 4. Activities include crafts, games and the creation of a U.S. flag to carry in the parade through Winslow at 1 p.m.

Graffiti benefits cancer program

Philip Meadows, who recently completed a series of large-scale photos of the graffiti-embellished Port Blakely Mill building, will auction off the pieces to benefit cancer prevention efforts.

Meadows, lead photographer for Fred Hutchison Cancer Research Center, will donate proceeds to FHCRC’s Uganda group, specifically a program led by Dr. Corey Casper employing vaccines as a means of preventing certain types of cancer.

The photos are hanging at Café Trios in Winslow, with a silent auction ongoing until June 14. Email pmeadows@fhcrc.org for information.

Friday and Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., the Indie Banditas Handmade Bazaar will set up shop in the Eagle Harbor Church parking lot with jewelry, art, clothing and more from over 40 Northwest artists and craftspeople. And at 11 a.m. Saturday, farmer Sally Metcalf will bring her precious posse of chicks to Eagle Harbor Book Co. for hands-on family fun. Nancy Rekow will also share her recently published “Minnie Rose Lovgreen’s Recipe for Raising Chickens.”
