Mesolini marks 40 years on Bainbridge Island

This fall will mark the 40th anniversary of the founding of Mesolini Glass Studio by Island Treasure awardees Diane Bonciolini and Gregg Mesmer. To celebrate, the duo are hosting a special Bainbridge Working Studios Summer Show from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, Aug. 11 through Sunday, Aug. 13.

This year’s show, however, is a new take on the traditional celebration, which has brought visitors and local art lovers alike to select studios around the island since 2013.

This year’s lineup will include more great guest artists and four participating studios in a gallery-like environment both and in and out doors.

Guest artists on tap to appear at Mesolini (13291 Madison Ave.) include: Jerry Davis, Sandra Sanchez Palacios, Isaac Swanson, Margaret Gibbs, Anne Air, James Bender, Ethan Currier, Constance Ducar, Asha Kent and Irene Clark.

Also on the tour this year is oil painter Mick Davidson (at 9000 Hidden Cove) and Elaine Greene — pottery, jewelry and paper mache artisan — and clay artist Jane Schupay (at 11236 Sunrise Drive).

There will be a special artists’ reception from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 11 at Mesolini Glass Studio.

Founded in 2013, Bainbridge Working Studios is a collective of artists who regularly open their private studios to the public to educate, inspire and demonstrate.
