Gypsy jazz band to play free concert outside

The lawn outside Bainbridge Performing Arts will be filled with the sounds of Gypsy jazz when Ranger and the Re-Arrangers play a special free concert featuring guitarist Jim Char at 6 p.m. Saturday, June 16.

Char is the founder of the Hot Club of Seattle, and the newest member of Pearl Django. He plays clean and fast, a traditional Gypsy Jazz sound with a few modern jazz and funk licks mixed in.

The concert will feature music from Ranger and the Re-Arrangers repertoire of swing standards and traditional Gypsy melodies.

The band will collect donations.
