BSO season opener features Mozart and Sibelius

The first concerts of the Bainbridge Symphony Orchestra’s 2017-2018 season will explore the music of Missy Mazzoli, as well as Mozart and Sibelius.

The concerts are 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 3 and 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 4 (with a preconcert chat at 2:15 p.m. Nov. 4).

The concerts are also the farewell performance for music director Wesley Schulz, who will conduct the BSO for the last time this November after leading the orchestra for six seasons.

Mazzoli was inspired to write “River Rouge Transfiguration” after visiting the city of Detroit in 2010 and learning about the River Rouge Plant. On the second half of the program the orchestra enters the sonic world of Finnish composer Jean Sibelius.

Tickets ($21 for adults, and $18 for seniors, students, military and teachers) may be purchased online at www.bainbridgeperformingarts.org, at 206-842-8569 or in person at BPA.
