BPA seeks teaching artists for Fall Quarter

Bainbridge Performing Arts is looking for enthusiastic, service-oriented teaching artists to join BPA Theatre School’s fall quarter roster.

BPA’s education programs are committed to teaching new skills and providing a positive, safe environment where students of any age can grow both artistically and personally, all while having fun. They employ a talented cadre of teaching artists and assistants who are eager to generate a positive impact in each student’s educational and theatrical experience.

The Theatre School is currently seeking individuals with theatre background, and experience and/or education in working with younger elementary school children. The position would not begin until September, but there may be opportunities sooner for short-term projects. Classes will be held after school, three days a week.

“We are looking for someone on the island or nearby on the peninsula for whom this would complement or complete a larger work schedule, as we aren’t able to offer more than eight hours per week to any one instructor,” said Liz Ellis, BPA’s director of education. “There is, however, room for growth as a long-term member of the teaching staff, and we aim to make the program meet the scheduling needs of committed team members.”

This part-time position, she said, is three days a week, beginning in September. Compensation is $20 to $25 per hour, depending on experience. Preference will be given to qualified local candidates.

For a complete job description, or to apply for the position, contact Ellis at 200 Madison Ave. North, Bainbridge Island, WA 98110, or respond by email to eellis@bainbridgeperformingarts.org. Application materials will be accepted through Aug. 1, or until vacancies are filled.

BPA Theatre School offers classes for 4- to 7-year-olds, first- through third-graders, second- through eighth-graders, teens and adults.
