The annual Bainbridge Island Bluegrass festival will not be held this year, event officials said.

Traditionally held during the last weekend of July at Battle Point Park, the highly anticipated island tradition would have been in its ninth year.

Officials cited a desire to reorganize the event, invite more musicians and better integrate the festival with additional downtown activities as the reasons for the concert’s not coming to fruition this year.

The festival is expected to be held again next year.
