Perennially popular island tunesmiths Ranger and the Re-Arrangers, with special guest Troy Chapman, will rock the Bainbridge Island Museum of Art auditorium (550 Winslow Way East) at 7 p.m. Saturday, June 18.
Chapman studied jazz at the American Conservatory of Music in Chicago. He founded the gypsy jazz group Billet-Deux in 2002, and was a member of Pearl Django from 2010-2015. His playing reflects a diverse set of influences including guitarists Pat Metheny, Carlos Santana, Mississippi John Hurt and saxophonist John Coltrane.
The concert will feature music from Ranger and the “Re-Arrangers” repertoire of American swing standards and traditional Gypsy melodies.
Admission is free, though limited space means advanced reservations are encouraged. Donations will be accepted. Email info@RangerSwings.com to reserve seats.
The venue is a particularly pleasureful one in which to perform, said Re-Arrangers frontman Ranger Sciacca.
“They have a beautiful and comfortable 100-seat auditorium with amazing acoustics,” he said. “In my opinion, it’s by far the best concert venue on Bainbridge Island.”
