BIMA offers summer courses

Bainbridge Island Museum of Art is offering some upcoming summer events.

An online Designing Paper Flowers Workshop is set from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. July 10. Transform two-dimensional paper into elegant three-dimensional flowers using a variety of techniques, with an emphasis on 3-D.

The Summer Art Market will take place Sundays from July 11- Aug. 15 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The market takes over the BIMA plaza with different local vendors featuring handmade, crafted treasures for sale and listen to live music.

Online July 28 at 7 p.m. will be Artist Talk with Nancy Callan & Katherine Gray with the topic The Clown in Me Loves You. Clowns are everywhere—in our childhood memories, in circuses, at birthday parties, in horror movies, among friends and lovers, and in politics. Callan and Gray discuss the thoughts and themes behind their multi-layered, collaborative exhibition in glass.

Also online Aug. 4 at 7 p.m. Artist Talk: Kurt Solmssen. Escape into the plein-air world of painter Solmssen. Join a conversation about his retrospective at BIMA, The Yellow Boat, with Chief Curator, Greg Robinson and Justin Ferate, essayist for Solmssen’s book.
