Oh to be young and Frankenstein. He’s got a sweet job, a beautiful fiancee and a sizable inheritance coming to him: the other, infamous Frankenstein’s Transylvania estate. The Ovation! show, based on Mel Brooks’ 1974 film, is kind of like 19 scenes of a really well-written Saturday Night Live, director Ron Milton says. See it 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday or 3 p.m. Sunday at the BHS Theatre.
Wild Powwers are three Seattle kids who, according to KEXP, “specialize in the sort of carefree grunge riff-rock that gets better the dirtier it gets.” Ben von Wildenhaus is harder to explain. He has a really long biography. You could read it, or just trust these Space Craft people and go to the Rolling Bay show Friday at 8 p.m.
Mermaid houses may or may not be a thing, but they certainly sound intriguing. Stock up at the art museum’s inaugural Pop-Up Art and Craft Fair. Fantasy-haters might prefer handmade wood furniture, brass bling or whimsical teapots and pearl drop earrings. Drop in between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. Sunday.
Take your Sunday Funday to the streets. From 3 to 8 p.m., Winslow Way will be closed for the Bainbridge Block Party. Overdose on fare from Viking Feast Ice Cream, Via Rosa 11 and Bainbridge Beignets, then dance it off to the beat of local bands, like Down Goes Frazier and the Iverson Brothers. Or you could get lost in a fierce match of beanbag toss.
