Best Bets for Feb. 8-10 | The Bainbridge Blab

The weather outside’s bout to get downright frightful. Bundle up and stay warm, Bainbridge. It may be a good weekend to stick close to home, under a blanket with a mug of your hot beverage of choice.

Though, for those worried about cabin fever, we do have a precautionary prescription for you: our Best Bets for weekend fun!

Bainbridge High School’s annual “Winter One Acts” play festival will conclude with the final two performances at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 8 and Saturday, Feb. 9 in the campus’ large group instruction theater.

The production will feature nine theatrical shorts written and produced completely by local students.

“This program supports our original playwrights here at BHS, showcasing original student plays and featuring student directors, actors, tech crew, and musical performers,” said Theater Club advisor Barbara Hume. “The plays this year feature themes exploring sexual orientation, dating, parodies of sci-fi stories, family dynamics, and playful works of the imagination that defy categories.”

Featured plays were selected by a committee of students and faculty from a total of 40 submissions.

The program is a major fundraiser for the theater program to support the cost of producing the upcoming spring musical. Tickets, $12 for adults and $10 for students and seniors, are available at the door.

Andrew Knapp and his dog Momo have gathered more than 630,000 Instagram followers with their stylish hide-and-seek photography, and published three books: “Find Momo,” “Find Momo Coast to Coast” and the children’s board book, “Let’s Find Momo!”

Now the lens-loving pair are celebrating their fourth collaboration, “Find Momo Across Europe,” and will be stopping by Eagle Harbor Book Company to talk about it at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 8.

In the book, Knapp and Momo travel across the pond to explore the historic cities, beautiful landscapes, and diverse cultures of 19 European countries. Each of Knapp’s charming, Instagram-worthy photographs features Momo hiding somewhere — but where?

“Find Momo Across Europe” also includes a translation cheat sheet for three words every dog-loving traveler should know when visiting Europe (“hello,” “thanks” and “dog”) and Knapp’s road trip anecdotes and travel tips for readers who want to bring their canine companions along on their own European tour.

Part photographic travelogue and part hide-and-seek game, “Find Momo Across Europe” is full of unforgettable images sure to inspire wanderlust in dog lovers, photography buffs, and armchair Insta-travelers of all ages.

Kitsap Humane Society executive director Eric Stevens will make remarks, and a portion of the evening’s proceeds will go to benefit the Kitsap Humane Society.
