Winslow Drug is a central part of BI | LETTER TO THE EDITOR

To the editor:

Our little Island is no longer “our little Island.”

We have had tremendous population growth along with what seems to be condo, condo, condo. Now we have a new shopping center, bringing us that much closer to what we call “America,” across the water with commercial businesses that are neither needed or wanted by lots of Islanders.

Well, it’s done, and now I think it’s time for us to pause for just a moment and think about the local businesses that are being pushed out. We now have three drug stores, two of which are owned by the same company. Was this really necessary? At least one, totally unnecessary.

My hope is that we will think about what our Island stands for, and support local businesses. Winslow Drug has been not only a drug store, but a central part of our community for a very long time.

Please, please continue to support this treasure. You can find just about anything there that you can find in the other drug stores, and if they don’t have it, they will order it for you with a smile. The people who work there are known and loved by many in our community for their cheerfulness, helpfulness and kindness.

Let’s keep a little bit of our values in touch with the soul of our community and support Winslow Drug. And also, all the rest of our wonderful local businesses!
