We need election security funding now | Letter to the editor

To the editor:

According to the New York Times, all 50 states were hacked in 2016. Federal investigators determined it was a “sweeping and systematic” effort to undermine Americans’ confidence in their democracy and help Donald Trump win the presidency in 2016.

“It wasn’t a single attempt,” Mueller said during testimony before a pair of House committees. “They are doing it while we sit here. And they expect to do it during the next campaign.”

The Brennan Center is the biggest non-partisan group watching out for election security. They said that after previous funding to protect our dispersed election systems, “They are on the front lines, yet many, especially those in rural localities, simply lack the resources to implement additional election security projects to further strengthen our election infrastructure.”

Please contact Senators Murray and Cantwell and urge them to push again for funding for election security funding.
