To the editor:

As a longtime resident of Blakely Heights, I was concerned when I first learned of the proposed expansion of Lynwood Center.

After attending initial meetings and getting to know Bill Nelson, the original developer, I felt assured the project was well thought out and would complement the existing neighborhood. Doubts were reawakened when Bill’s venture fell victim to the housing market collapse in 2009. However, with the new involvement of John Jacobi, Fairbanks Construction and others, the project was revived, put back on track with no shortcuts employed and today is nearing completion.

The end result is magnificent! The buildings are beautiful and fit beautifully into the Tudor theme of Lynnwood Center.

The extras, i.e. outdoor seating, garden sculpture and the attractive landscaping, complements the project and is undoubtedly the best I have ever seen for any commercial/residential endeavor.

Such results do not simply happen but rather take the vision, beginning with that of Bill Nelson, and continued with the hard work and financial commitment of local firms and people who were interested in preserving our Island’s beauty and not just making a quick buck.

Thank you to all for a job well done.
