Let’s keep dense growth in downtown | Letter to the editor

To the editor:

I am writing to express my enthusiastic support for Michael Pollock for city council.

Unfortunately, our city council is not following the comprehensive plan, which is our community’s vision for the future of our island. Michael Pollock is exactly right when he states that “the council should plan for growth, but it shouldn’t promote growth, as is currently the situation. Similarly, we should plan for increased traffic, but we shouldn’t adopt policies that promote traffic, as is currently the situation.”

For example, Suzuki is way out of scale with what’s appropriate and in line with the goal of providing affordable housing. The excessive density (100 units now!) is not consistent with our comprehensive plan.

Michael Pollock will work to keep high-density affordable housing developments within the Winslow Core, where it belongs.

We need more members of the council who will confront the numerous threats that face our special island. Sarah Blossom is the wrong person for our challenging times and I strongly believe that Michael Pollock is the right one.
