Jakubik is a champion for our children | Letter to the editor

To the editor:

Those who have attended any Bainbridge Island School Board meeting have been honored to see the wisdom and compassion for our children regularly exhibited by Sheila Jakubik, the current board president.

The island is fortunate to have Sheila advocating for our schools and I wholeheartedly endorse her reelection for another term on the Bainbridge Island School Board.

Sheila Jakubik’s experience serving on PTO boards and site councils at numerous schools as well as her work with the Bainbridge Schools Foundation and the Bainbridge Island School District make her the right choice. Through her teaching experience, Sheila has developed a deep understanding of children’s developmental and academic needs and comprehends the complex matters of our district to meet these needs. I have watched her work through difficult situations with grace and dignity to reach successful solutions. She consistently maintains a balanced approach with students, staff, parents and community members alike. Sheila has been an advocate for social-emotional learning, teaching to the whole child, and creating a greater sense of community within our district.

Most importantly, Sheila is a parent and a good person, who always seeks to do what is right.

Sheila Jakubik is an amazing asset to the Bainbridge Island School Board and I look forward to watching her be a champion of our children for another term. I strongly endorse Sheila and hope that our community will continue to benefit from her fabulous work on the board and her dedication to our schools and our children.
