Candidate ‘gets it’ on environmental issues | Letter to the editor

To the editor:

I strongly support Kirsten Hytopolous in her efforts to return to the Bainbridge Island City Council.

Ms. Hytopolous has a rich set of experiences and values for this job. She has a long-standing commitment to the environment and to bringing the voice of the community to the Council in her previous work as a council member and mayor of Bainbridge Island.

From her early adoption of electronic car technology to bringing the plastic bag ban to the city council to introducing resolutions related to climate change and use of coal, she has consistently shown by her actions that she “gets it” about environmental issues and the climate crisis. In addition, her focus on responsible land development on Bainbridge and her experience and training as a mediator are critically important characteristics for the Council. We are lucky to have a candidate as well prepared and committed to wonderful values as Kirsten Hytopolous has been. Let’s elect her.
