Looking for a chance to perform on the big stage?

Olympic Performance Group is in the planning stages for its 11th annual Nutcracker production, to be held at the North Kitsap Auditorium during the holiday season, and will be holding auditions on Sunday, June 5 at the group’s Bainbridge Island studio.

The studio is at 9720 Coppertop Loop, Suite 201.

OPG is a local youth performing arts and dance company producing classical and original works in our community with a goal of increasing opportunities for local youth to perform while enhancing dance appreciation in Kitsap County.

The OPG production of “The Nutcracker,” perhaps the group’s best-known show, is always new and exciting, taking the original story and incorporating new themes, costumes, sets and styles of dance and performance each year.

Auditions for dancers of all styles (ballet, tap, ballroom, jazz, contemporary and hip hop), actors and gymnasts/acrobats will be held.

The audition schedule for dancers: ages 7 to 10, 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.; ages 11 to 13, noon to 2 p.m.; and ages 14-and-older from 2 to 4 p.m.

Gymnasts, acrobats and other performers ages 7-and-up will perform from 4 to 4:45 p.m.

Actors, ages 14-and-up, will be seen from 4:45 to 5:15 p.m.

There is a $15 per family audition fee, and rehearsals begin in early September.

Due to the commitment this type of production entails, one parent needs to attend a brief orientation session at the beginning of his or her child’s audition.
