Island School students ask questions of teacher Mike Derzon, who holds a time capsule near the deep hole in the garden where they buried it, to be opened by students in 2046. To commemorate a COVID-19 school experience, children included: hand warmers for the outdoor classrooms, a school newspaper written by 4th- and 5th- graders, dolphin and blue marlin art for two pod mascots, class photos with masked faces, and a hummingbird nest to signify the 2nd and 3rd grade outdoor bird study. Kindergartners crafted a coloring book of their memories. Others popped in hand sanitizer, gloves and a facemask to tell future students of the safety measures they took during the pandemic.
