Demolition began April 10 on the old Police Station on Winslow Way E. on Bainbridge Island just above the Washington State Ferries dock. The city plans to put affordable housing there. The demolition has been controversial as the city’s Historic Preservation Commission walked out en masse last week because their stance was not respected by leaders, they said.
