First dose vaccine appointments fill up quickly at Senior Center

The city of Bainbridge Island announced Tuesday morning that COVID-19 vaccine first dose appointments at the Senior Center…

Bainbridge Island finally got its winter snow this week, but it only lasted a few days. Rebecca Barker said her family moved here two years ago from Canada and got a “little slice of home” with the snow as Michael, 6, built a snowman, complete with the COVID-19 safety mask of course. Meanwhile, Jim Beyea dug up this photo of the ferry in Bainbridge Island pulling out of the dock with the Olympics in the background. The National Weather Service issued a winter storm warning for the Bainbridge Island area Saturday. Last Thursday, city Operations Maintenance crews began working 12-hour shifts to provide 24-hour coverage. The city followed its Snow and Ice Control Plan that includes priority streets for response; crews focus first on main roads then neighborhood streets. The city is not operating the Severe Weather Shelter on Bainbridge Island this year due to COVID-19. But the Kitsap County Severe Weather Shelter in Poulsbo has been open at the Gateway Fellowship Church, 18901 8th Ave. Subscribe to shelter activation notifications by texting KITSAPSWS to 898-211.
