New manager at BI Travel

Carmen Costello was named the new agency manager at Bainbridge Travel, which is now separating from The Travel Exchange. Costello will plan its development.

Costello’s travel background began in Spokane 17 years ago. Since then she has worked with Uniglobe Travel, AAA Inland Automobile Association, Go-Today, Tangerine Travel, and People to People Ambassador Programs. Her years of experience included winning the Star Performer Award in 1999 while working with American Express and Microsoft.

New outdoor store opens

Wildernest Outdoor Store opened up a Bainbridge branch last weekend on Winslow Way in the space previously occupied by Classic Cycle.

Owners Steve and Kerry Sutorius operate a similar store in downtown Port Townsend, though the Bainbridge outlet, at 4,000 square feet, is double the size. The outdoors equipment and accessories sold at Wildernest makes it comparable to a smaller REI.

Wildernest specializes in outdoor retail, with backpacking, climbing, and camping equipment, accessories and clothing. The Port Townsend store, which opened in 2003, attracts customers from all over Olympic and Quimper peninsulas, according to Steve Sutorius, and he hopes to find a similar customer base here.

The Sutorius’ have worked in ski shops and also have a background as back-country and kayak guides in Montana, Yellowstone, the Olympics and San Juans. Their experience has been focused on encouraging people to get outdoors and to help them be equipped correctly. Contact the store by calling 780-8527 or emailing sutorius1@gmail.com.
