Building A Sustainable Economy lecture series continues with talk from Mithun CEO

Bert Gregory, from the Seattle-based Mithun design firm, will give the talk “Green Building Isn’t Timid” in the next session of Sustainable Bainbridge’s monthly Building A Sustainable Economy lecture series.

The series continues at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 18 at the Bainbridge Public Library.

Gregory will discuss how to take an active leadership role in the sustainable urban design realm, including mixed-use housing, workplace and transit oriented development.

Gregory is chairman and CEO of Mithun. During his tenure, he has led Mithun to national recognition for concept-based, environmentally intelligent design. Under his leadership, the firm has been honored with four Committee on the Environment Top 10 Green Projects, two American Society of Landscape Architects National Awards, a Sustainable Design Leadership Award from the American Institute of Architects, an AIA National Honor Award for Urban Design, two Urban Land Institute Awards of Excellence, and a local and regional leadership award from the United States Green Building Council.

Gregory serves as an international leader, speaker and advocate for sustainable building and urbanism, with recent lectures in Beijing, Jerusalem and Sarajevo.

Building a Sustainable Economy is a collaboration between Sustainable Bainbridge, the Bainbridge Chamber of Commerce, Bainbridge Graduate Institute and the Bainbridge Public Library.
