BI boys easily win swimming finale

The Bainbridge Island boys swim and dive team easily won the Olympic League Culminating Meet June 1-5.
The team scored 700 points, almost double the total scored by second-place North Kitsap with 357. Kingston tied for fourth with 217 points.
The Spartans swept the three relay races, won the diving and swept the 50 free.
Isaac Beers led NK with wins in two events. Tyler Stewart did the same for BI.
Fin Wenker of BI won the 200 freestyle in 1:48.12. Teammate Jason Geddes was third with Ian Stefanski of NK second.
In the 200 individual medley, Tyler Stewart of BI was the winner in 1:57.8. Rocco Velie of Kingston was second and James Correll of NK third.
In the 500 free, Curtis Steward of BI placed first with a clocking of 5:06.4.
BI swept the 50 free with Oskar Bannister first in 21.9 seconds, Ian Lipton second and Harrison Villella third.
Stewart was first in the 100 butterfly in 53.38 seconds with Curtis Stewart, also of BI, third in 55.56.
Thomas Witty of BI won the 100 breaststroke with a clocking of 1:01.79. Correll was second for NK and for Kingston Zachary Cummings was third.
The Spartans also took the top two spots in the 1-meter diving competition, with Brian Taylor winning with 484.8 points and Henry Sauermann second with 379.45.
The Spartans took first in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1 minute 38.72 seconds, more than three seconds faster than second-place NK.
In the 400 free relay, BI won with a time of 3:17.01, more than 11 seconds ahead of second-place NK.
In the 200 free relay, BI won in 1:30.03.
NK’s Beers took the 100 free in 46.98 seconds, with teammates Bannister of BI second and Wenker third.
In the 100 backstroke, Beers won in 51.18 seconds with Lipton of BI second and Stefanski of NK third.
