Keith Melvin Thackray

Keith Melvin Thackray passed away peacefully on Monday, Dec. 11, 2017 with his family at his side at The Madrona House on Bainbridge Island. He was 91.

He was born on June 17, 1926 in Waupun, Wisconsin where he grew up with his older sister, Shirley, twin sister Lois and brother David.

Upon graduation from high school, he served in the Army in Europe at the close of World War II with the occupation army.

Keith attended Ripon College and Iowa State College. He worked as a city planner in Spokane from 1951-1985. He was a member of Westminster Congregational UCC.

He and his wife Marian raised their four sons in Spokane and lived there until they moved to Bainbridge Island in 2010.

He is survived by his wife Marian Knight Thackray of Bainbridge Island; children Mark (Kim) Thackray of Corvallis, Oregon, Todd (Monique) Thackray of Bellevue, Brett (Maureen) Koval of Bainbridge Island, and Paul (Karen) James of Seattle. He also leaves behind his twin sister Lois Caldwell and nine grandchildren.

Keith was preceded in death by his siblings David Thackray and Shirley Norton.

Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend the memorial service at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 13, 2018 at Eagle Harbor UCC on Bainbridge Island.
